A MRO (Medical Review Officer) is a licensed physician who is responsible for receiving and reviewing laboratory results generated by the employer’s drug testing program evaluating medical explanations for some of the drug test results. He or she is a third-party and independently reviews the accuracy and integrity of the drug screen process and will determine when a legitimate medical explanation for any positive result from the laboratory and deemed invalid test results. He or she does this work in a timely manner so the flow of the result of drug screen is reported in a confidential way to protect all parties.
